archistratego:

when divinity looks down on men, and they open their mouths — their tongues slithering down: from mouth, to throat, to lungs and hearts and ribs ——

black, swollen things that lick the insides; yearning for a taste of mortality, because when you are eternal and immortal and omniscient all you want is to breathe time in and feel it corrode your bones. decay swinging to the ticking of the clock and men——

humanity looks up at divinity, and searches for eternity; prophets with eyes like glass, skeletal and fearless as they stare back. languidly ingested alive by the Gods they yearn to touch.

until they are people-shaped shells and monsters lurk behind the expanse of those washed out eyes.

— Behind his eyes a monster lurked. ||  Eliot C. ©
